Date:2022/06/23 Click:2049 times
With the improvement of people's material and biochemical level, their attention to health and beauty has been gradually upgraded, and their consumption ability and willingness to consume cosmetics have also increased; Accordingly, the categories of cosmetics are becoming more and more abundant and their uses are becoming more and more detailed. However, there are more and more cases of suffering from improper use of cosmetics and even medical treatment. Here, experts from Jiangsu inspection and quarantine Wujiang port come to popularize the adverse reactions of cosmetics.
  What are cosmetic adverse reactions?
Cosmetic adverse reactions generally refer to the adverse reactions of skin and appendages caused by the use of cosmetics in people's daily life. Such as itching or tingling, skin erythema, papule, scaling, dry mucosa, pigmentation, hair and nail damage, etc.
Main causes of cosmetic adverse reactions
There are two main reasons for adverse reactions of cosmetics. One is the cosmetics itself, including improper use or selection of cosmetics, quality of cosmetics, content of heavy metals or magazines, microbial pollution, toxic stimulation of chemical raw materials, toxic and side effects of drugs, etc.
On the other hand, it also has a great relationship with the individual quality sensitivity of users. The adverse reactions were mainly manifested in the skin. In mild cases, only self-conscious symptoms were used without obvious skin lesions, which was manifested as sensitive skin; Serious cases have obvious skin damage, manifested as various cosmetic skin diseases.
Types and identification of adverse reactions of cosmetics
Adverse reactions of cosmetics can be roughly divided into contact dermatitis of cosmetics, photosensitive dermatitis of cosmetics, abnormal skin pigment of cosmetics, hair damage of cosmetics, acne of cosmetics and nail damage of cosmetics.
Cosmetic contact dermatitis is the most common cosmetic dermatosis, accounting for more than 70% of cosmetic adverse reactions, including irritating or degenerative contact dermatitis caused by cosmetics. Cosmetic irritant dermatitis refers to the skin rash that is limited to the parts where cosmetics are used, mainly manifested as a painful or burning skin rash. It is generally dry erythema and fine debris, and blisters and exudation can also occur. It occurs immediately after the first use of cosmetics. It is often seen in inferior cosmetics. Allergic contact dermatitis (cosmetic allergy) is a cosmetic dermatitis caused by contact with allergens. It only occurs in a few patients who are allergic to a certain ingredient in cosmetics. There is an incubation period for all reactions, including erythema, papule, blister, exudation and scab, accompanied by pruritus. For example, hair dye dermatitis may cause swelling of the head and face and discomfort around the body. Common sensitizing sources include spices, preservatives, emulsifiers, antioxidants, sunscreen agents, dyes, plant additives, etc.
Cosmetic photosensitive dermatitis refers to phototoxicity or photoallergic dermatitis caused by the combined action of some components in cosmetics and light. This kind of adverse reaction mainly occurs in the exposed parts after using cosmetics. There is still skin rash after stopping using cosmetics. It can occur after contacting photosensitive substances again. The skin lesions have various forms, including erythema, papules and small blisters, and itching. In chronic cases, local skin may have infiltration, thickening and mossy changes. It may be caused by preservatives, dyes, spices, sunscreen and fluorescent substances in lipstick.
Abnormal skin pigmentation of cosmetics refers to the chronic abnormal pigmentation that occurs in the local area or its adjacent parts in contact with cosmetics, or the local pigmentation or pigmentation that remains after the regression of cosmetic contact dermatitis and photosensitive dermatitis. The occurrence of such adverse reactions usually has a clear history of contact with cosmetics. Abnormal skin pigment occurs at the site of contact with cosmetics, and pigmentation is more common. Such abnormal skin pigments may be caused by impure petroleum fractionation products, some dyes and light sensitive fragrances contained in cosmetics.
Cosmetic hair damage generally refers to hair lesions such as hair dryness, discoloration, breaking, bifurcation, deformation or falling off after the application of cosmetics. Cosmetics involved in hair damage generally include hair dye, shampoo and conditioner, hair emulsion, hair gel, eyebrow pencil, eye black and other cosmetics, which are manifested in the change and fracture of hair quality, bifurcation and discoloration, brittle texture, loss of luster, etc., and hair loss of varying degrees may also occur. Most of them are physical and chemical damages, which can be gradually recovered after stopping.
Cosmetic acne refers to acne like skin lesions that occur locally after contact with cosmetics for a certain period of time. It can be caused by mechanical blockage of hair follicle mouth caused by cosmetics, as well as hair follicle inflammation, skin acne and hair follicle changes. Such adverse reactions are common at the contact site. For example, acne caused by facial cosmetics can be seen on the whole face, generally manifested as blackhead acne, inflammatory papules and abscesses. Acne like skin lesions can be significantly improved or subsided after discontinuation of suspected cosmetics.
Cosmetic nail damage refers to deck damage and soft tissue damage around nail caused by long-term application of repair, painting and removal cosmetics, such as nail peeling, nail softening, nail embrittlement and perinail dermatitis.
The inspection and quarantine department suggested that the adverse reactions of cosmetics should be dealt with and reduced from three aspects: government regulation, cosmetics enterprises' self-discipline and consumers' rational choice. (Julida)
